Spa-Like Bathroom

In this beautiful period home near Hilly Fields, the existing bathroom was untouched for years and underused by the owners. Our brief was to reimagine it entirely — turning a cold, dated space into a warm, spa-inspired retreat. A clever reconfiguration of the layout allowed us to replace the old shower-over-bath arrangement with both a freestanding tub and a generous walk-in shower, creating a room that feels indulgent yet highly practical for everyday use.

The design brings together earthy warmth and elegant detailing. Brushed brass fixtures introduce subtle richness without overpowering the scheme, while a teak vanity unit adds natural texture and provides much-needed storage. The walls are clad in Hoxton glazed tiles from Mandarin Stone, chosen for their tonal depth and non-uniform finish, adding character and variation to the space. Underfoot, patterned floor tiles from Bert & May bring gentle visual interest while staying within a calm, neutral palette.

The colour scheme is anchored by Setting Plaster by Farrow & Ball, a soft, muted shade that complements the natural materials and is softened further with touches of greenery. A new sliding sash window enhances natural light, while a shower niche provides a practical yet elegant storage solution. Every element, from the brassware to the tile selection, was chosen to create a bathroom that soothes, inspires, and serves the household beautifully.
